Meow. Witty Kitty here. Today the dogs practiced taking a proper cat nap. Now I realize some of you think we cats are for chasing. After all, I am still having to train Lola not to chase, particularly when Heidi and I are playing. However, we take cat naps seriously around here.
Note the difference in sleeping. When the dogs normally sleep, they sleep in close proximity to one another (if not touching). When we are practicing cat naps, we sleep apart. Rosemary is always gracious enough to guard me during these events so I can get my beauty rest! See us. Thanks, Rosemary! Note, Rosemary raises her head for "red alert" when the evil human comes to take photos.
Rosemary is the best student of cat naps. She knows the value of tucking those front paws inward. Journey and Lola just don't get there very often.
When taking a cat nap, your back should always be touching a wall or other protected surface. The only exception to this rule is if you are the dog guarding the cat. Note Journey, aka sluggo and Lola have this part down.
Finally, there will be none of that silly roll over on your back and stick your paws into the air, thereby exposing yourself to the world.
These final pictures are two sides of the new pillow around here. Mom has confiscated the bone pillow to use for napping in her recliner. She says it's perfect for human cat napping. Rosemary covets the pillow. She says it's in the shape of a bone, therefore it belongs to her. Mom even has had to retrieve it from the yard a couple of times. Whoops. I'll let y'all decide is it a dog toy or is it a pillow? For me, I'm going catting around! Happy Tails.

Oh, Witty Kitty! I feel so inspired! I'm going to dedicate the post I'm putting up today to YOU - and cats everywhere!
Play bows,
Zim
I need to practice this cat nap thing. This weekend, I think!
I can see I have some work to do on my technique. This will be hard work!

We love our cat naps!

Excellent tips, Witty. The boy furry beast is not good at cat naps at all. He always makes a big show of rolling around with his tummy up and legs in the air. I don't think he will ever learn!
The pillow should belong to you, not the dogs or the human.
